πŸ’Ύ Backup & Restore

Create a backup

A backup includes the database (all resources, courses, users, progress, certificates) and the machine keys (so encrypted files and logins keep working). Store the downloaded file somewhere safe and off this box.

Restore

Restoring replaces the live database, so it must be done with the server stopped (a running DB can't be safely overwritten):

  1. Stop the server.
  2. Run deploy/restore.bat <backup.zip> (Windows) or deploy/restore.sh <backup.zip> (Linux).
  3. Start the server again.
⚠️ The restore script overwrites library.db and the key files with the ones in the backup. It makes a .pre-restore copy first so you can roll back.
